Climbing in the the Ariege Pyrenees

With over 200 routes the Ariege Pyrenees and specifically the area around Tarascon sur Ariege is fast becoming the locality in France for rock climbing.

Limestone and granite crags abound with all grades catered for from the toughest in the 8s to easier classic limestone slabs. Calames, only 5 minutes drive has over 200 routes including multipitches. With the other crags close by 350 routes are on the doorstep from 3c to 8c.

On those rare days you just can’t get out to the crag or just want to practise a few moves there is the Refuge de Rive climbing wall. This 4 metre high by 15 metre wall provides a quality environment for either starting out or honing those climbing skills.

Equipment hire including climbing shoes, harnesses and ropes available... Guidebooks are available to purchase.

Experienced local guides and instructors arranged whether you want a taster climbing session or someone to accompany you on a taxing multipitch route.
